LinkedIn DM templates that get replies
Most LinkedIn DMs fail for the same reason: they are long, they are about the sender, and they ask for too much. The ones that get replies are short, specific and about the person you are writing to. These four templates show you the shape. The detail you add is what earns the reply.

Four templates, and when to use them
The specific detail
When: You have actually looked at what they do and can name one real thing.
Hi [name], I came across [their company] and saw the [specific thing: a project, a post, a client win]. That is a strong [angle].
I help [people like them] win [the outcome you deliver], and I thought it might be worth a quick chat.
Open to a 10 minute call next week?
Why it works: It shows you did the reading. One real, verifiable detail beats a hundred generic compliments.
Shared context
When: You and the prospect share an industry, a city or a connection.
Hi [name], we both work with [shared group], so I wanted to reach out.
Most [shared group] I talk to find [the problem you solve] the hardest part.
I built a way to [your fix]. Want me to send a one-page summary?
Why it works: A shared context gives you a reason to be in their inbox that is not just selling.
One clear question
When: You do not need a meeting yet, just a signal.
Hi [name], quick one: how are you finding [the thing you help with] at [their company]?
I ask because I work with [people like them] on exactly that, and I am deciding who to reach next.
No pitch, just useful to know.
Why it works: A single low-effort question gets more replies than a pitch, and the answer tells you if they are a fit.
The short follow-up
When: They did not reply to your first message.
Hi [name], I know things get busy, so I will keep this short.
I still think [your outcome] could be useful for [their company]. If now is not the time, no problem.
If it is, a 10 minute call works for me any afternoon this week.
Why it works: One follow-up, a few days later, without guilt or pressure. Then stop if there is still no reply.
The rules behind every template
- Keep it under five sentences. Long DMs read like a brochure and get deleted.
- Make it about them. One specific, true detail about their business out-sells a paragraph about yours.
- Ask for one small thing. A reply, a short call, a yes or no. Never a list of asks.
- No link in the first message. A link before trust reads as spam and gets the message ignored.
- One follow-up only. If they do not reply twice, stop. Pestering burns the connection.
How DMer fits in
The hardest part of a good LinkedIn DM is not the words: it is finding the right person and learning one real thing about them before you write. DMer researches the people, writes a personal message for each, and sends the ones you approve on a plan built around your goal. You approve, edit or reject every message before it goes out.
Frequently asked questions
Do these templates really work?
No template guarantees a reply, and you should treat any page that promises one with suspicion. What makes a DM work is that it is short, specific and about the person you are writing to. These templates give you that shape; the specific detail you add is what earns the reply.
What if I do not know anything specific about the prospect?
Then you have not done the research, and the DM will show it. The single highest-value thing you can do before messaging anyone is look at their profile, their website and their recent posts, and find one real thing to mention. DMer does this research for you as part of the service.
Do I write the messages myself?
You can, using these templates as a starting point. Or DMer writes a personal message for each prospect, built around your goal and your offer, and you approve, edit or reject every one before it is sent.
Do you send the LinkedIn messages for me?
LinkedIn does not allow automated messaging on your account, so at the planned time your approved message waits in your dashboard with a one-tap open and copy. You send it and mark it sent. Emails can go out automatically from your connected inbox.
